Overview
On February 27, 2024, Malladi Drugs and Pharmaceuticals, in partnership with the Sri Aurobindo Society (SAS), launched its first Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Bhavitha Centre, ZP Boys High School, Renigunta, Andhra Pradesh. This initiative is part of SAS’s broader Rupantar program—aimed at reshaping inclusive education across India.
The CoE serves as a dedicated resource hub for children with special needs (CWSN), offering remedial education, physiotherapy, and developmental support. It’s designed not only to uplift students, but also to train and empower educators and parents in implementing inclusive learning strategies.
Impact & Highlights
Empowering Students: A team of psychologists, special educators, and inclusive education resource teachers work closely with 41 enrolled children to offer individualized attention and care.
Physiotherapy & Well-being: 15 children have benefited from mobility-focused physiotherapy sessions designed to improve physical wellness and independence.
Skill Development: 18 students have been enrolled in special education, computer literacy, and functional curriculum sessions, setting a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Teacher & Community Involvement
The CoE also focuses on capacity building by training teachers to identify and respond to diverse learning needs. Parent engagement is central to the model, fostering a supportive ecosystem beyond the classroom.
Despite early logistical challenges, such as summer breaks and election duties disrupting schedules, a mitigation plan is now in place to strengthen participation and sustain momentum.
Malladi’s Commitment
Malladi’s CSR contribution of ₹39.66 lakhs—of which ₹7.06 lakhs had been utilized as of June 2024—has funded infrastructure, teaching materials, content development in Telugu, and staff recruitment. This marks a major step forward in building a scalable, replicable model for inclusive education in India.
Looking Ahead
This initiative envisions a future where every child—regardless of ability—has access to quality education. It sets a precedent for what corporate partnerships in education can achieve when aligned with purposeful, scalable outcomes.
